Discover a Common Food Proven to Help Men Lose Weight and Improve Heart Health

When you hear of an ancient health elixir proven to help men lose weight, protect against diabetes, and reverse heart disease, are you a bit skeptical? I know I am.

But sometimes these things really are true. And today I’m going to share with you one of those ancient health elixirs that really does live up to the hype.

This is one of those well-kept secrets that’s been around for thousands of years. It’s been in continual use since about the time the Egyptians were building the pyramids. In fact, in 400 BC Hippocrates was administering it to Greek soldiers for battle wounds and other ailments.

What is it? Apple cider vinegar (ACV) and it’s been credited with helping everything from bug bites to diabetes to heart disease.

In today’s article I’m going to show you how a daily dose of this natural elixir can help improve your health.

Of course the drug companies will poo-poo these natural health remedies. That’s because if every man was using natural health remedies there would be very little demand for their drugs. But as you’ll see, a little ACV daily has proven benefits.

Losing Weight

I don’t have to tell you that obesity is a serious problem these days. The good news is that ACV has been proven to be a safe aid to keeping weight in check.

Several recent studies have shown that consuming a small amount of ACV every day can help you lose weight. It turns out this vinegar increases satiety and reduces the total amount of food you eat.

When subjects were given a small amount of vinegar with their breakfast they ate less the rest of the day – about 250 calories less.

Another study found that taking vinegar with bread lowered glucose and insulin levels in subjects. Their satiety rating corresponded directly with the acid level in the vinegar.

A Japanese study showed a slight, but direct weight loss. 175 healthy but obese people took either water or ACV daily for 90 days. Their diets were comparable in other respects. After the study ended, the people using vinegar had lost more weight. The vinegar group lost, on average, nearly 2 pounds over the 90 days.

Researchers think the vinegar might nudge genes involved in breaking up fats.

If you’re looking for an instant weight loss fix, ACV is not for you. The effects are quite subtle, so it’s not considered a good candidate for a quick weight loss fix. But it’s a safe and proven way to slowly take off the excess weight.

Try a tablespoon mixed with a cup of water before each meal to help curb your appetite.

Fighting Diabetes

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases today. A hundred years ago the disease was virtually unheard of. Today 1 in 10 men has the disease.

There’s a significant amount of research supporting the use of ACV to treat diabetes. Vinegar is anti-glycemic and seems to help lower blood sugar. Researchers think it’s the acid in ACV that stops complex carbs from being completely digested.

One study found that ACV improved insulin sensitivity in almost 20% of people with type 2 diabetes, and nearly 35% of pre-diabetic people. A second study looked at people with type 2 diabetes who took two tablespoons of ACV at bedtime. Their blood sugar was lowered an average of 6% by morning.

If you’re diabetic or pre-diabetic, this could be just the thing for you. I recommend taking two tablespoons mixed with 8 ounces of water at bedtime to help stabilize your glucose levels.

Heart Health

ACV contains high levels of unique acids that other vinegars don’t have. Researchers have found it to be a good agent for helping prevent cardiovascular disease.

Experts agree that when blood levels of something called LDL (the so-called “bad cholesterol”) are too high, that’s a sign of heart disease. ACV’s unique acids are proven to lower LDL in the blood. The result is dramatically reduced risk of heart disease.

A recent study showed that ACV helped lower cholesterol in lab rats. A second study showed the blood pressure of rats could be lowered by the acid in ACV. Animal studies have clearly shown the vinegar decreases triglyceride levels.

These results, and others, are good indicators that ACV is a useful substance for fighting heart disease. A couple of tablespoons at bedtime mixed with water should help your cholesterol levels.

The Mother of All Vinegars

The best kind of ACV is the raw, unfiltered variety containing “mother” of vinegar. Mother of vinegar is a protein-based substance that is found in unfiltered, unprocessed vinegar. It looks like a murky blob sitting in the middle of the vinegar bottle.

Mother is a beneficial, non-toxic goo consisting of yeast and acetic acid bacteria. It contains lots of beneficial stuff like probiotics, which helps digestion and supports immune function. The longer ACV is allowed to ferment, the more it accumulates the healthful mother.

When you see the mother, it means you have a top quality ACV product. A lot of manufacturers filter and pasteurize the vinegar so the mother doesn’t form. They’re afraid if people don’t know what it is, it will hurt sales. Unfortunately, that process robs the vinegar of its most potent ingredient. You can buy ACV containing mother at most health food stores.

For general health the research suggests you should take 2 tablespoons of organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar at bedtime or first thing in the morning. Be sure to mix it with about 8 ounces of water. Many will find the taste to be pleasant or at least tolerable. However, if you wish to sweeten it, add a small amount of honey.
