Obesity is a condition in which a person has excess body fat to the extent that it can have a negative effect on their health.

Various diseases such as heart disease, sleep apnea, type-2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer and osteoarthritis are all closely linked to obesity.

Obesity not only increases the risk for these diseases, but also TREMENDOUSLY increases the risk for erectile dysfunction (ED).

•  Endothelium– Obesity affects blood vessel health. An erection is a cardiovascular function. If your blood vessels are in trouble, your penis will be, too.

Obesity appears to damage the endothelium, which is responsible for the release of nitric oxide, a molecule that helps you retain an erection.

Fat tissue secretes many bioactive substances that cause inflammation, which damages endothelium.

If your endothelium is not in good shape, less blood makes it to your penis. A new study proves that endothelial function improves once you start losing weight.

•  Low testosterone– Obesity is linked to low testosterone (T). Without adequate levels of testosterone, your sex drive decreases, causing problems with erections.

Your belly fat emits numerous substances in your body that lower your T level. The more fat you have, the more estrogen circulates in your body.

•  Ego–Being obese affects your self-esteem and makes you not feel good about yourself, which triggers performance anxiety.
